Our Teen Group Music Lessons at Ichoku Academy offer a unique space for young people to connect with their roots, discover their identity, and master the rich sounds of traditional Igbo music. Inspired by the Ichoku—the vibrant parrot and the legendary griot masquerade known for storytelling, education, and communal healing—our teen program is far more than a standard music class. It is a modern continuation of an ingenious indigenous tradition. Here, teens gather with their peers to learn authentic Igbo folk songs and master indigenous musical instruments, turning cultural heritage into a living, breathing creative outlet.
