In collaboration with the Centre for Memories and Blecca Foundation, during the Things Fall Apart Festival, 2025, we hosted a weeklong workshop for secondary school students to engage them with Igbo music and Igbo musical Instruments. The workshop brought over 50 students from six schools, teaching them the essential functions of Igbo musical instruments and how to sing Igbo folk songs.
The workshop ended with a performance workshop exhibition by the children, and this was one of the major highlights of the festival week. We now have a functional orchestra of secondary students that can perform with Igbo musical instruments in Enugu.
This workshop is part of a larger initiative to advance the reclaiming of authentic Igbo-African cultural identity. Especially in this current age, when technology has brought about an influx of multiple cultures together. For the Igbo cultural renaissance, we hope to sustain our established contacts with children in Enugu and set up cultural centres across Southeastern Nigeria.
With your support, we intend to host and sustain these workshops across the southeast. SUPPORT OUR EFFORTS BY MAKING A DONATION
